A drawing: Mother

I miss school–artmaking was so much easier back then!

This was done in my figure drawing class. Our model was very pregnant at the time (it was cool to watch her belly grow on a daily basis!). When she took up this pose, I was struck by how the light illuminated her rounded belly and small, gentle hands, and how the pose foreshadowed so sweetly her upcoming role as a Mother. Not even delivered yet, she still sheltered and cradled her child. I thought it was poignant and strove to capture it. I wish I could rework the rear breast. I was having trouble with perspective and made it look smaller and less fuller than it really was.
